Sydneysiders and Easter campers heading to regional parts of New South Wales can expect warm, sunny, and dry weather over the long weekend. Good Friday in Sydney is expected to reach 25 degrees with a chance of light showers, followed by a sunny weekend with temperatures reaching up to 27 degrees. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts mostly fine weather for much of the state and the Australian Capital Territory, with only a few coastal showers expected on Friday. Overall, Sydney is expected to have a mild, warm, and mostly sunny Easter long weekend with temperatures in the mid to high 20s.

While Sydney will be spared from a cold front bringing gusty winds and rain to parts of south-east Australia, western NSW may experience heavy rain on Sunday from leftover moisture from ex-Tropical Cyclone Megan. NSW Health has issued a warning to campers to pack repellent and cover up to avoid mosquito bites, as mosquito populations have increased in the state’s north due to warm and wet weather. Popular coastal holiday destinations such as Ballina, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca, Newcastle, and Narooma have reported high mosquito numbers, with mosquitoes carrying Ross River and Barmah Forest virus detected recently on the north coast.

Despite the risk of mosquito bites, Sydneysiders are enjoying the Easter long weekend, with crowds flocking to the Royal Easter Show. The show is a popular annual event featuring agricultural competitions, entertainment, and amusement rides. Visitors can enjoy the sunny weather and various activities at the show, making the long weekend a fun and memorable experience for families and friends. While some parts of the state may experience rainy weather, Sydney is expected to have a dry and pleasant Easter weekend, perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the city’s attractions.

As Sydneysiders and Easter campers make the most of the warm and sunny weather, it’s important to take precautions against mosquito bites to prevent the spread of diseases such as Ross River and Barmah Forest virus. Packing insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and using mosquito nets can help protect against mosquito bites and reduce the risk of contracting these diseases. With high mosquito populations in coastal holiday destinations, it’s essential for travelers to be vigilant and take measures to avoid bites while enjoying the great outdoors during the Easter long weekend.

Overall, the Easter long weekend in New South Wales promises to be a sunny and enjoyable experience for Sydneysiders and holidaymakers alike. With warm temperatures, clear skies, and a range of outdoor activities to enjoy, it’s the perfect time to relax and unwind with family and friends. While some parts of the state may experience rainy weather, Sydney is forecasted to have a dry and pleasant weekend, making it an ideal destination for those looking to make the most of the holiday break. By taking precautions against mosquito bites, travelers can ensure a safe and memorable Easter long weekend in New South Wales.
