Paula Weinstein, a highly-respected Hollywood executive and producer, has passed away at the age of 78. Her daughter, Hannah Rosenberg, confirmed her death in a statement that praised Weinstein’s professional accomplishments and philanthropic efforts, while also encouraging Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election. Weinstein produced over 30 films throughout her career, including notable projects such as “The Perfect Storm,” “Blood Diamond,” and “Monster-in-Law.” She also worked on TV movies and won two Emmy Awards and a PGA Award for her work.

Weinstein’s most recent project was the Netflix comedy series “Grace and Frankie,” which she executive produced throughout its seven-season run. In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Weinstein held executive roles at various Hollywood institutions and was also actively involved in political advocacy. She sat on the board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California and raised significant funds for Democratic candidates. Rosenberg highlighted her mother’s commitment to breaking down barriers in Hollywood and supporting other women in the industry.

Weinstein’s political activism extended to her final days, as Rosenberg emphasized her mother’s desire for Americans to prioritize reelecting President Biden and supporting Democratic candidates down the ballot to ensure the survival of democracy in America and around the world. Weinstein was married to fellow producer Mark Rosenberg, who passed away in 1992. The couple had founded the production company Spring Creek Productions. In a previous interview with The Times, Weinstein had discussed her resilience in continuing her work after her husband’s death and raising her daughter as a single parent.

Weinstein’s legacy in Hollywood is marked by her dedication to producing quality films and TV projects, as well as her trailblazing efforts to advocate for social justice causes and promote diversity in the industry. With a career that spanned decades, Weinstein made a lasting impact on the entertainment world and will be remembered for her fearless approach to storytelling and her commitment to empowering women in film and television. Her daughter’s call to action to honor her memory by supporting political candidates who uphold democratic values reflects Weinstein’s enduring passion for advocacy and her belief in the power of storytelling to create positive change.
