Minibus driver Şefik Vural from the Erzin district was attacked by a passenger while about to depart for a trip to Adana at 4:00 PM. The passenger refused to pay and responded with profanity when asked for the fare. Enraged by the situation, a person named H.T. attacked Vural, biting and assaulting him in nine different places. During the struggle, Vural’s ear was severed, but his colleagues came to his aid.
Vural was taken to a hospital in Adana where his ear could not be reattached, and he will undergo surgery again in 10 days. The perpetrator of the attack was arrested by the judicial authorities. It was revealed that the same individual had bitten another person a few days ago, resulting in five stitches.
Vural recounted the incident, stating that the assailant had not only bitten his ear but also taken the money that had fallen from his pocket. He described how the passenger had boarded the minibus just five minutes before departure, rudely paid the fare, and proceeded to attack him when questioned about it. Vural’s colleagues arrived to help him, but not before the assailant had taken the fallen money and kept it in his own pocket.
The Erzin Minibus Cooperative President, Caner Erçökük, condemned the attack on Vural, highlighting the severity of the injuries sustained. Despite efforts to calm the situation, Vural suffered severe injuries, including a severed ear and physical assault. Due to the extent of his injuries, Vural could not have his ear reattached in Adana and will have to undergo surgery to repair it in ten days. The cooperative expressed solidarity with Vural and his colleagues during this challenging time.
