The Istanbul Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit and Fatih District Police Department teams conducted a joint operation based on information that a weapons shipment was going to be made from outside the city.
After tracking the suspicious vehicle for a while, the teams detained M.G. and M.U. In the search of the vehicle, 200 smoothbore hunting rifles and 50 smoothbore hunting rifle barrels were seized.
Following the procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
