According to a statement from the Van Security Directorate, a crackdown is being carried out on organized crime groups that create fear, panic, intimidation, and pressure in society, threatening the peace and security of the people.
As part of the operation conducted by the Smuggling and Organized Crime Division and the Intelligence Division, simultaneous raids were conducted on homes and businesses in Van, Ağrı, Batman, Bitlis, Şırnak, and Rize targeting the crime of “illegal arms trafficking”.
A total of 4 long-barreled weapons, 13 pistols, 7 long-barreled weapon magazines, 9 pistol magazines, 719 bullets of various calibers, 13 hunting rifles, and 129 hunting rifle cartridges were seized in the operation carried out by 380 personnel.
34 suspects were arrested in the operations and legal proceedings have been initiated against them to bring them to justice.
