The Security Branch Auto Theft Bureau Directorate of the Provincial Police Department has launched an operation to detect stolen, confiscated, and smuggled vehicles with changed motor and chassis numbers in the city. Raids were conducted on certain workshops in the Karatay, Selçuklu and Meram districts. During the searches, 39 engine blocks believed to be smuggled, 16 impounded engine blocks, 10 vehicle bodies, 5 vehicle cabins, 1 stolen tractor, 1 stolen vehicle engine block, 1 vehicle, and 435 liters of motor oil were seized.
A total of 5 suspects were taken into custody during the operation. The authorities suspect that the workshops were involved in the illegal activities of altering vehicle identification numbers and dealing with stolen and smuggled vehicles.
