NYT ‘Strands’ #83: Clues, Anagrams, and Solutions for Saturday, May 25th

Welcome back to another Strands puzzle guide! Today, the hint for the New York Times’ Strands puzzle is “Sounds delicious!” with an additional clue of “Sounds like food, but isn’t food.” The objective of the game is to find a group of words that have something in common, as well as a special word called a spangram. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board, and while the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. Today’s spangram is “HOMOPHONES,” linking words like MEET, PAIR, and LEAK.

To play Strands, you will be presented with a six by eight grid of letters and given a clue as to the theme of the words you need to find. When you find a theme word, it will be highlighted in blue, while the spangram will be highlighted in yellow. The game is still in beta, so it’s important to keep playing to ensure it stays around and eventually makes its way onto the New York Times app. Even though Strands is not currently on the app, you can still play it on the blog where this guide is located.

Today’s puzzle was a bit tricky, with words like MEAT, PEAR, LEEK, and MOUSE, among others, corresponding to foods like STEAK, CEREAL, and CHILE. The goal is to identify homophones, words that sound alike but have different meanings, which can be challenging to parse out. By using hints and process of elimination, the answers like TIME and MOOSE were eventually discovered, leading to the completion of the puzzle. This particular Strands puzzle may leave you with an appetite, but it’s a satisfying challenge to solve.

If you need additional help or hints, you can find them on the blog where this guide is posted. In addition to Strands puzzles, the blog also features daily Wordle guides, TV show reviews, streaming guides, movie reviews, and video game coverage. Feel free to share your progress and success with today’s Strands puzzle on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Don’t forget to keep playing Strands to help keep the game alive and potentially have it added to the New York Times games app. Thank you for visiting the blog, and happy puzzling!
