A landmark Queens deli, Mario’s Meat Market and Gourmet Deli, is honoring slain NYPD cop Jonathan Diller by selling “The NYPD” sandwich, with a portion of the proceeds going to Diller’s family. Officer Diller was tragically killed while on patrol in Far Rockaway when he approached a suspicious vehicle parked illegally at a bus stop. The passenger in the vehicle opened fire on Diller, mortally wounding him in the stomach just beneath his bullet-proof vest. The alleged gunman was wounded and apprehended after a struggle for the murder weapon with a police sergeant. Diller, a three-year department veteran, left behind his wife and young son. He was laid to rest after a funeral service attended by hundreds of uniformed officers and former President Donald Trump.
