The North Aegean Group Command of the Coast Guard detected irregular migrants on a rubber boat off the coast of Ayvacık. The Coast Guard patrol boat “TCSG-8” was sent to the area, and the teams apprehended 19 irregular migrants, including 5 children of Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationality, on the rubber boat.
The foreign nationals were taken ashore and sent to the Ayvacık Repatriation Center. The Coast Guard continues to monitor the region for any further illegal migration attempts, as the issue of irregular migration remains a significant challenge in the region.
