Smacking Burger is a tiny hamburger joint located inside the last working gas station in Manhattan below 14th Street. The station, owned by Tommy Hondros and his girlfriend Elizabeth Torres, opened in April and has been serving smashburgers to customers for the past few months. Hondros, who has a background in owning gas stations, wanted to recreate the old-school feeling of a burger joint at a fuel stop. The unique location of Smacking Burger has drawn in a diverse crowd of customers, with a dozen lined up on a recent Wednesday for the shop’s opening.

The atmosphere at Smacking Burger is lively and unique, with music playing inside while customers wait for their meals. The menu features six different burger variations, along with sides such as loaded fries and special sauces made in-house by Torres. Customers have raved about the burgers, with one film director noting that the Big Smack burger was worth the 40-minute wait. The juicy patties, unique sauces, and flavorful toppings have earned praise from those who have tried the food.

Despite the small space and hectic environment, Hondros and Torres, along with their two employees, work hard to get everyone fed. Hondros has a background in gas stations, having owned three other locations in Brooklyn, and wanted to offer customers a unique experience at Smacking Burger. The idea of getting a burger at a gas station is something that resonates with customers, as it brings back memories of the unique burger joints that used to be found at fuel stops.

The popularity of Smacking Burger has continued to grow, with owners noting that they served 800 customers on a recent Saturday. The location of the burger joint inside a gas station convenience mart adds to the appeal for customers looking for a quick and tasty meal. Hondros and Torres have put their culinary skills to good use, creating a menu that features delicious burgers and sides that have received high praise from customers. The mix of flavors and unique sauces add to the overall experience of dining at Smacking Burger.

Customers have noted the deliciousness of the burgers, with one man saying that the Big Smack burger was better than the famous Motz burger. The unique toppings, flavors, and sauces, along with the juicy patties, have made Smacking Burger a hit with locals and visitors alike. The experience of dining at the small hamburger joint within a gas station adds to the overall appeal, with customers willing to wait in line for the tasty and satisfying meals. The success of Smacking Burger highlights the desire for unique and flavorful dining experiences in New York City.
