New viral trend dominating social media exposed

A new trend has taken over social media thanks to Gen Z, which started with a satirical video about workplace makeup posted by TikTok user Jools LeBron. In the video, LeBron talks about her “demure” work look, highlighting her natural makeup and straightened hair. The term demure is often used to describe women who are reserved, modest, and shy. LeBron has created a series of videos where she jokes about her well-behaved and demure acts, such as not rushing out of her seat at a Cirque de Soleil performance.

The trend has exploded on social media, with almost 10,000 videos using the hashtag demure in the past week. Singers such as Lizzo and SZA have lip-synced to LeBron’s original sound, and television programs like Gilmore Girls have also picked up on the trend. Many believe that the trend is a satirical take on previous trends, such as the clean girl aesthetic, where women aimed to appear clean-cut and put together at all times.

Not just big names, but ordinary social media users have also embraced the demure trend. For example, fitness influencer Whitney Simmons posted a video of herself triple-checking a workout bench before using it, describing her actions as “very mindful, very cutesy, very demure.” Another social media user, Campbell Puckett, shared a video on how to eat a croissant in a demure way, emphasizing modesty and cleanliness in her approach to eating.

Despite the popularity of the demure trend, some people have been left confused by it. Some have taken to social media to express their bewilderment, with questions like, “What does demure mean and who taught y’all that word of the week?” There are mixed opinions about the trend, with some claiming that it has already “run its course.” However, the trend continues to gain momentum on social media, with more users joining in and putting their own spin on the concept of being demure in various situations.

Overall, the demure trend is characterized by an emphasis on modesty, cleanliness, and a well-behaved demeanor in various settings. It originated from a satirical video by TikTok user Jools LeBron and has since spread to other social media platforms, with influencers and ordinary users alike participating in the trend. Despite some confusion and skepticism surrounding the trend, it has captured the attention of many social media users, with a large number of videos and posts using the hashtag demure. Whether it will continue to gain popularity or fade away remains to be seen, but for now, the demure trend is making its mark in the world of social media.
