In a groundbreaking move to raise funds for nature conservation, the Museum for United Nations – UN Live – has launched Sounds Right, a global initiative that harnesses the power of nature’s sounds to support the cause. Indian artist Anuv Jain, along with several other global artists such as David Bowie x Brian Eno and Ellie Goulding, have joined the initiative by incorporating nature’s sounds into their music. Jain, in a press statement, expressed his excitement to be part of the initiative, stating that nature has been a significant source of inspiration for his music and that he is grateful for the opportunity to give back to something that has given him so much.

The initiative aims to inspire fans to support nature conservation, with plans to raise more than $40 million for conservation efforts in various regions over the next four years. Additionally, they hope to reach over 600 million individual listeners during this period. Sounds Right encourages fans to take actions such as recording morning birdsong for biomonitoring and adopting sustainable behaviors. The funds raised will benefit organizations operating in regions such as India, Indo-Burma, Myanmar, Philippines, and more.

Through Sounds Right, artists can continue incorporating nature sounds into their music independently, with at least 50% of recording royalties being donated to biodiversity conservation and restoration projects for songs that feature NATURE as an artist. United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Melissa Fleming, believes that the initiative will unite people worldwide in recognizing the value of nature and inspire them to take actions to protect the planet. CEO of the Museum for the United Nations, Katja Iversen, highlights the power of popular culture, such as music, to engage millions of people and drive positive global change, emphasizing the importance of recognizing nature as an essential artist.

Overall, Sounds Right aims to leverage the influence of music and popular culture to engage a global audience in nature conservation efforts. By incorporating nature’s sounds into music and encouraging fans to take action, the initiative seeks to raise significant funds for conservation and inspire positive change. With the support of talented artists and the backing of the United Nations, Sounds Right has the potential to make a meaningful impact on nature conservation efforts across the globe.
