Former WWE superstar Natalie Eva Marie opened up about her struggles with addiction and alcohol abuse during an interview on “OutKick The Morning” with host Charly Arnolt. Marie revealed that she had dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player but made poor decisions that led her down a dark path. She explained that she felt like she was born an alcoholic and addict and began drinking heavily after missing out on opportunities to play college soccer due to NCAA eligibility issues.

Marie shared that she initially played soccer while growing up in California and received scholarship offers from small schools in her senior year. However, she ultimately decided to walk away from the sport after suffering an injury. She later tried out as a walk-on for the team at California State University, Fullerton, but missed her chance due to NCAA regulations. This led to a difficult time in her life where she turned to alcohol and began making risky decisions that ultimately landed her in trouble with the law.

After experiencing multiple DUIs and struggling to pay fines, Marie ended up serving three months in jail right after graduating college. She credited her brother for helping her become sober at 23, only to relapse three years later. It wasn’t until she was 28 that she found sobriety once again, landed a job with the WWE, and met her husband, Jonathan Coyle. Marie emphasized the importance of surrendering and letting God take control of her life, and she continues to practice the traditional 12-step program while adhering to her daily routine that includes prayers, meditation, exercise, journaling, and more.

Throughout her journey towards sobriety, Marie acknowledged the challenge of watching loved ones struggle with addiction and urged those suffering to seek help and not give up hope. She highlighted the importance of staying the course and surrendering to a higher power to overcome destructive behaviors. Marie’s story serves as an inspiration for those battling addiction, showing that with determination, support, and faith, it is possible to turn one’s life around and find success and happiness. She continues to share her experiences and advocate for mental health awareness, hoping to help others who may be facing similar struggles.
