Morocco’s Crescent Moon Sighting Confirms Eid al-Fitr Date for 2024

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset and engage in self-reflection. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan for Muslims around the world. To determine when Eid al-Fitr will take place, Muslims use the lunar cycle. Astronomers in Saudi Arabia announced that Eid al-Fitr would be celebrated on April 10. Countries like Morocco and Australia have also announced the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. The significance of dates, traditional desserts, and the sighting of the crescent moon play an important role in the observance of Eid.

Eid is often referred to as the “Festival of Sweets” due to the consumption of traditional desserts during the celebration.
