Country singer Morgan Wallen expressed remorse and took responsibility for his actions following his arrest in Nashville on April 7. Wallen stated that he was not proud of his behavior and had touched base with Nashville law enforcement, his family, and staff at Chief’s bar. He also mentioned that he had the utmost respect for the officers working to keep everyone safe.
Despite his arrest, Wallen confirmed there would be no change regarding the 2024 leg of his One Night at a Time World Tour, which had recently kicked off in Indianapolis. The singer was taken into custody after allegedly throwing a chair off the roof of Chief’s on Broadway, near two officers. He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, but did not seem overly concerned in his mugshot.
The incident at Chief’s bar was rumored to be in reaction to news of his ex-fiancée, KT Smith, marrying someone else. Sources suggested Wallen was crushed to learn about KT’s marriage and that the reality of the situation may have caused the outburst. Wallen and KT had been engaged since 2016 before ultimately breaking up in 2019. They share a son together who was born in 2020.
Reports also suggested that Wallen’s drinking habits contributed to his behavior at the bar. Sources mentioned that while Wallen is typically a fun person to be around, when he starts drinking, he has difficulty controlling himself. This was not the first time Wallen has had trouble related to alcohol. He was previously arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in 2020 and received a DUI charge in 2016, although the case was later dropped.
Wallen’s court date has been set for May 3, the same day as his second scheduled tour stop in Nashville. Despite the legal issues, he seemed intent on continuing his music career. Wallen’s statement on social media indicated that he was taking the necessary steps to make amends and acknowledged his wrongdoing. The singer expressed respect for law enforcement and a desire to move forward from the incident.
