Michigan Attorney General files charges against two individuals for breaching 2020 voter data in denial of election results.

Two prominent 2020 election deniers in Michigan, Stephanie Scott and Stefanie Lambert, were charged with tampering with election equipment and sharing voter data with an unauthorized third-party. Lambert, a pro-Trump attorney, is already facing charges in a separate election-tampering case and made news for leaking emails from Dominion Voting Systems. Scott faces six charges, including conspiracy, and giving unauthorized access to a computer, while Lambert faces three similar charges.

The incidents in Adams Township were part of a larger pattern across the nation where Trump allies allegedly breached voting systems to prove the 2020 election was rigged. Prosecutors in Georgia, Colorado, and Pennsylvania are also pursuing criminal charges against individuals involved in similar activities. The charges against Scott and Lambert represent a broader effort by law enforcement to address attempts to subvert the democratic process in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat, filed the charges against Scott and Lambert and has been aggressive in investigating and prosecuting efforts to undermine the 2020 election. Nessel emphasized the importance of upholding the democratic process and holding accountable elected officials and their proxies who promote baseless conspiracies and violate voter privacy laws. Both Scott and Lambert have denied any wrongdoing in connection with their handling of sensitive voting equipment.

Lambert, who is also facing charges in a separate election-related case, is expected to appear in federal court in Washington, DC, as part of Dominion’s defamation lawsuit against her client, ex-Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne. Lambert leaked private data from Dominion, prompting the company to seek her removal from the case. The ongoing legal battles involving Lambert and others highlight the contentious aftermath of the 2020 election and efforts to address disinformation and election-related crimes.

Scott and Lambert’s charges are part of a broader push to address election-related crimes and disinformation that have plagued the aftermath of the 2020 election. With prosecutors across multiple states pursuing criminal charges against Trump allies and others involved in attempts to undermine election integrity, there is a concerted effort to hold accountable those who violate the law in pursuit of baseless claims about election fraud. The legal actions taken against Scott and Lambert reflect the commitment to upholding the democratic process and ensuring the integrity of future elections.
