Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell faces a race against time to be involved in this weekend’s match after suffering a dead leg while playing for the Three Lions in international games. Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, expressed frustration over Chilwell’s injury, as well as the return of other injured players. Chilwell had only recently returned from a serious hamstring injury and a knee issue, and his participation in two full games for England has left him unable to train before the next Chelsea match. Pochettino acknowledged the bad luck but seemed surprised by Chilwell’s involvement in both matches.

In addition to Chilwell’s injury, Cole Palmer, another Chelsea player in England’s squad, also missed playing due to a minor injury. Palmer, a standout performer at Stamford Bridge, was disappointed to miss out on international game time, but Pochettino believes he will be available for the upcoming Chelsea match if he continues to train well. Furthermore, Pochettino revealed that midfielder Romeo Lavia will not be available for the rest of the season due to injury, which is a setback for Chelsea as they aim to maintain consistency and secure a spot in European football next season.

Despite the injury concerns, Chelsea managed to defeat Leicester in the FA Cup before the international break, and Pochettino is now focused on resuming league action against Burnley. He emphasized the need for his team to perform well and secure victories in the competitive Premier League, acknowledging that every game presents a challenge. Burnley, Chelsea’s upcoming opponent, is considered a strong and exciting team to watch, and Pochettino is prepared for a difficult match. The team’s performance will be crucial in their quest for European football next season, and Pochettino is optimistic about their chances.

Looking ahead, Pochettino expressed his frustration over the injuries hampering Chelsea’s lineup, particularly affecting key players like Chilwell and Palmer. Despite the setbacks, he remains focused on the team’s performance and the challenges they face in the Premier League. The manager emphasized the need for consistency and strong performances in every game, highlighting the competitive nature of the league. With Burnley up next, Pochettino is preparing Chelsea for a tough match and hoping for a positive result to keep their European football aspirations alive. Despite the injury setbacks, he remains confident in his team’s abilities to overcome challenges and secure important victories.
