Map Reveals Trump’s 2024 Election Win Due to Nationwide Shift to Red Voters

In the 2024 presidential election, President-elect Donald Trump emerged victorious with about a 3-percentage-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris. This marked the first time in Trump’s three campaigns that he had won the popular vote, and only the second time since 1988 that any Republican candidate had accomplished this feat. Trump’s victory was fueled by increased support across a wide range of regions and demographic groups. In 2016, Hillary Clinton had won the popular vote, but Trump had secured the Electoral College. In 2020, Trump lost both the popular vote and the Electoral College to President Biden.

Trump’s success in the 2024 election was evident in the vast majority of counties across the country, with improvements in over 90% of them. This included gains in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Despite winning in places where the majority had previously favored Harris, such as New Jersey and New York City, Trump managed to increase his support. In his hometown of New York City, Trump received a larger share of the vote than any Republican candidate since Ronald Reagan. Similarly, in Maverick County, Texas, a predominantly Latino border county that Biden had carried in 2020, Trump saw a swing in his favor.

Exit polls from both the 2020 and 2024 elections showed Trump making gains among men and women voters. While in 2020 he had won by a narrow margin among men, he saw a significant increase in support from this demographic in 2024. Trump also managed to increase his share of women voters, despite the Democrats’ efforts to focus on women voters and issues like abortion access. Additionally, Trump made gains among core Republican groups like evangelical voters, as well as among traditionally Democratic-leaning groups such as young voters and Latino voters in areas like Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Trump’s success in the 2024 election reflects a broader trend of increased support from a diverse range of voters. His ability to appeal to both traditional Republican base groups and those typically aligned with the Democratic Party showcases his broad appeal. The data from the election demonstrates Trump’s ability to connect with voters across different regions and demographic categories. The chart showing the change in support for Trump among various demographic groups between 2020 and 2024 highlights the breadth of his appeal and the gains he made in key voter segments.

Overall, the 2024 presidential election results revealed Trump’s ability to secure a solid victory in both the popular vote and the Electoral College. His campaign’s efforts to expand his base and attract support from a variety of demographic groups across the country paid off. Trump’s success in regions like New Jersey, New York City, and Maverick County, Texas, as well as his gains among men, women, and core Republican and Democratic constituencies, demonstrate his appeal as a candidate. The 2024 election outcome solidified Trump’s position as a formidable political figure with widespread support from a diverse electorate.
