Mandisa’s father, John Hundley, addressed the congregation at her Celebration of Life service and expressed his belief that the former “American Idol” contestant did not harm herself before her death. He shared details of finding her on the floor of her bedroom and her struggles with COVID-19 before her passing. Hundley emphasized Mandisa’s love for the Lord and her perseverance through difficult times.

He also mentioned some conversations he had with Mandisa before her death, including their talks on Easter morning. Mandisa’s cause of death has not been officially released yet, and her family is mourning her loss. The Christian rock radio station K-Love also expressed their sadness but noted that Mandisa’s struggles had come to an end, and she was now in a better place with God.

Mandisa first gained fame during her time on “American Idol” Season 5 in 2006, where she finished in the Top 10. She went on to release her debut album, “True Beauty,” and became well-known in the Christian music industry with hits like “Good Morning” and “Stronger.” In her memoir, “Out of the Dark,” Mandisa opened up about her past struggles, including being raped as a teenager and her mental health challenges, which led her to consider suicide at one point.

The music industry honored Mandisa’s legacy by performing one of her iconic songs on “American Idol” after her death. The show paid tribute to her by featuring a rendition of “Shackles (Praise You)” by Mary Mary, which was the first song she performed on the competition show. As fans mourn the loss of the talented singer, they are reminded to seek help if they are struggling with similar issues by reaching out to resources like the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for support.

Overall, Mandisa’s father expressed his belief that his daughter did not harm herself and emphasized her faith and strength during challenging times. Despite her struggles with COVID-19 and mental health issues, Mandisa was known for her resilience and perseverance in her career and personal life. The music industry, including K-Love and “American Idol,” paid tribute to her legacy and encouraged others to seek help if they are experiencing similar difficulties. Mandisa’s death has left a void in the music community, but her music and message of hope will continue to inspire listeners worldwide.
