During the international break, some Manchester United players excelled, while others struggled. One standout performer was Kobbie Mainoo, who was called up to the senior England squad after impressing in United’s FA Cup victory over Liverpool. Mainoo has been making a case to start in England’s Euro 2024 squad, showcasing his talent and potential. Alongside Mainoo, other United players had strong performances. Bruno Fernandes scored for Portugal and was given a rest in the next game, while Victor Lindelof played well for Sweden. Young talents like Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho also got valuable minutes for their national teams.

Not all United players had a successful international break, as some faced challenges. Scott McTominay’s Scotland suffered a disappointing defeat to Northern Ireland, while Diogo Dalot had a tough time in Portugal’s loss to Slovenia. Harry Maguire captained England after an injury to Kyle Walker but later picked up an injury himself, missing the following game. Marcus Rashford had limited minutes for England, appearing as a substitute in one match and being unused in another. These players faced setbacks during the international break, but they will look to bounce back when they return to club action.

The break was beneficial for several United players who needed game time or rest. Christian Eriksen and Sofyan Amrabat, who have seen limited playing time at United, got minutes for Denmark and Morocco, respectively. Facundo Pellistri, on loan at Granada, was able to play for Uruguay and gain valuable experience. Mainoo, despite his standout performances, also benefited from his England debut and full start, showcasing consistency and maturity. The break provided opportunities for these players to showcase their skills and gain confidence ahead of the remainder of the season.

Overall, the international break had mixed outcomes for Manchester United players. Some seized the opportunity to shine on the big stage, while others faced challenges and setbacks. The break allowed players to gain valuable experience, rest, and game time, which will be beneficial for the team as they return to club action. United will hope that their players can carry their form from the international break into the remainder of the season, as they look to achieve their goals in both domestic and European competitions. The break was a chance for players to represent their countries proudly and continue to develop their skills and showcase their talent on the international stage.
