After winning a primary election for a township board position in central Indiana, Andrew Wilhoite was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the death of his estranged wife, Elizabeth “Nikki” Wilhoite. His wife was reported missing by coworkers and her body was later found in a creek near her home. Andrew Wilhoite admitted to hitting his wife with a flowerpot during an argument and then disposing of her body in the creek. He faces 10 to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 4. Wilhoite had recently filed for divorce and completed chemotherapy treatments for cancer before her death.

Wilhoite was one of three Republican candidates who advanced in the 2022 primary for a township board position but later withdrew from the race. He received 60 votes out of the 276 total votes for Republicans in the Clinton Township Board race, which only had three candidates. Despite his legal troubles, Wilhoite’s candidacy was still able to secure some support from voters in the primary election. His attorney, Jennifer Lukemeyer, declined to comment on the verdict or the case.

The case of Andrew Wilhoite has shocked the community of Lebanon, Indiana, where the crime took place. The circumstances surrounding the death of Elizabeth Wilhoite, including the fact that Andrew admitted to causing her death, have caused a stir in the local area. The race for the township board position also garnered attention due to Wilhoite’s involvement and subsequent withdrawal from the election. The verdict of voluntary manslaughter instead of murder may raise questions about the legal proceedings in the case.

The tragic death of Elizabeth Wilhoite has left a mark on the community, with many wondering how such a crime could occur in their midst. The fact that Andrew Wilhoite was able to win a primary election while facing charges in his wife’s death has also raised concerns about the election process and the vetting of candidates. The upcoming sentencing of Wilhoite will bring some closure to the case, but it will not erase the pain and loss felt by those who knew Elizabeth. The aftermath of this case will likely continue to resonate in the community for some time.

The town of Lebanon will need to come to terms with the events surrounding the Wilhoite case and work towards healing and moving forward. The legal system has delivered a verdict in this case, but the emotional toll of the loss of Elizabeth Wilhoite will linger for many. The community will need to support each other and come together to process this tragedy and ensure that such a situation does not occur again. The sentencing of Andrew Wilhoite will serve as a reminder of the consequences of domestic violence and the impact it can have on families and communities. The town of Lebanon will need to unite in the face of this tragedy and work towards a safer and more just future for all.
