Country star Lee Greenwood recently discussed his commitment to helping America’s veterans, including his efforts to provide new homes for wounded warriors. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of his song “God Bless the USA,” a concert was filmed in Huntsville, Alabama, featuring 40 different singers, with proceeds from the DVD sales going towards helping veterans. Greenwood, who did not serve in the military, has a deep passion for supporting those who have served, with over 220 homes already built for veterans in the past 15 years.

With the sale of the new DVD, Greenwood hopes to build even more homes for deserving veterans. The concert featured performances by well-known artists such as Michael W. Smith, Big & Rich, The Oak Ridge Boys, and more, showcasing the support and respect for America’s veterans. Greenwood expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give back to those who have sacrificed for their country, stating that his interest in helping veterans is instinctual for him.

As the oldest living country singer with a current Gold album, Greenwood shared his feelings of being blessed to still be performing at the age of 81. He expressed his pride in being an American and emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by veterans. Greenwood sees America as a beacon of hope for the world and believes in upholding the values set forth by the country’s founding documents to move forward as a nation.

In terms of potential involvement in presidential campaigns, Greenwood identified as a conservative Christian and stated that he would support a candidate whose platform aligns with his values. Despite considering retirement in the future, he has tabled the idea for now, citing his good health and the political climate as factors influencing his decision. Greenwood remains motivated by his family, with his wife serving as an inspiration and support system for him.

Greenwood expressed his ongoing passion for music and performing, sharing his gratitude for the many artists who participated in his recent concert and DVD project. He believes in maintaining a positive outlook and focuses on family as the foundation of his life. Recognizing the challenges faced by veterans, Greenwood emphasized the country’s support and appreciation for their service, encouraging veterans to know that all of America believes in what they have done. Through the sale of the DVD, Greenwood hopes to continue supporting veterans by providing them with new homes.
