Lea Thompson, known for her roles in films like Back to the Future and TV shows like Caroline in the City, reflects on her career highlights, including working with her daughters, Maddie and Zoey Deutch, on The Year of Spectacular Men. The family-centered film, which Thompson directed, produced, and starred in alongside her daughters, was a proud moment for the actress. Thompson’s husband, Howard Deutch, also played a producing role in the movie, making it a complete family affair. The film follows Maddie and Zoey as they navigate young adulthood, with Thompson portraying their mother.

In addition to her acting career, Thompson also dabbles in collecting vintage clothing, which she uses in different movies and allows her kids to borrow. She currently stars in Hallmark+’s The Chicken Sisters and shares more personal details, such as her favorite vacation spot being her double-wide in Montana and her fondness for her mom’s painting jacket. She also talks about her background in ballet, her love for the movie Harold and Maude, and her admiration for Audrey Hepburn.

Thompson reveals that if she weren’t an actor, she would have pursued a career as a dance teacher or choreographer, as she started out as a ballet dancer. She shares fun anecdotes like keeping outfits from Some Kind of Wonderful and having ambidextrous eyebrows. Thompson also talks about her favorite meal to cook, her love for Chinese food, and her celebrity crushes growing up, including Michael Jackson. She reflects on her most starstruck moment meeting Sally Ride during the filming of SpaceCamp and her love for baths as a way to unwind.

Thompson discusses her favorite book, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, and how it influences her acting and directing. She shares her favorite song for karaoke, go-to takeout order, and secret talent for making fantastic Halloween costumes. Thompson also mentions her special connection to Back to the Future, the film she always watches when it plays on television. She reflects on memorable moments from her various projects, including playing Amanda Jones in Some Kind of Wonderful and her time on Caroline in the City. Thompson also talks about her strong friendship with Michael J. Fox and the valuable lessons she learned from her long and diverse career in Hollywood.
