Kygo’s Music Festival in the Hamptons Moves to Shinnecock Nation Territory

Kygo’s Palm Tree Music Festival faced a setback after hitting turbulence at a Hamptons airport. The fest was initially supposed to be held at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach on June 22nd, but the Federal Aviation Administration rejected the permit, citing issues with runway closures. Despite this setback, the festival has found a new home on land owned by the Shinnecock Indian Nation in Southampton, promising attendees an exciting and successful event for its fourth annual celebration. The rejection from the FAA left the event without a location, but the partnership with the Shinnecock Nation offers significant benefits for both festival guests and the local community.

The festival lineup includes headliners such as Swedish House Mafia, Kygo, Sofi Tukker, Purple Disco Machine, Xandra, Will Sass, and Flat Stanley. Sponsors for the event include Don Julio, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Geojam. The Shinnecock Nation expressed excitement about working with Palm Tree Crew to ensure a successful and safe event for all attendees. The nation’s website reveals that they will also host other events such as the 78th annual Shinnecock Indian Powwow later in the year. Despite potential challenges surrounding the festival’s location change, all parties involved are committed to making this year’s event just as memorable as previous years.

The Shinnecock Nation is one of the oldest self-governed tribes in New York State and has previously been involved in disputes with local residents over issues such as billboards on tribal land along Route 27. The move to host the Palm Tree Music Festival on Shinnecock territory signifies a new partnership between the nation and the event organizers, highlighting the benefit of collaboration between different communities. This exciting new location provides an opportunity for festival attendees to experience a unique and culturally significant environment while enjoying a lineup of top electronic music acts. The support of sponsors and the commitment of both the Shinnecock Nation and event organizers ensure that this year’s festival will be a success despite the unexpected change in plans.

With the festival now set to take place on Shinnecock land in Southampton, attendees can look forward to a dynamic and diverse lineup of artists, sponsors, and community collaborators who are dedicated to creating a memorable experience for all. The Palm Tree Music Festival has overcome challenges related to the original venue rejection, showing resilience and adaptability in finding a new location that promises significant benefits for everyone involved. The event’s move to Shinnecock territory not only showcases the rich culture and history of the nation but also demonstrates the power of collaboration in bringing people together for a shared celebration of music and community. By embracing change and finding creative solutions, the festival organizers have set the stage for a successful and exciting fourth annual event that promises to be a highlight of the summer in the Hamptons.
