Rescuers in Kuala Lumpur are currently working diligently to locate a 48-year-old Indian tourist who fell into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India last Friday. The operation is focusing on two manholes and involves the use of high-pressure jets of water to cut through debris. The search for the missing individual is taking place between the manhole at the incident location and another manhole 69 meters away. Dang Wangi police chief, Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, provided an update on the operation, highlighting the use of camera crawlers to explore the sewage pipe and the efforts to break through debris using the jetting technique.

The team conducting the search and rescue operation has identified objects resembling hard rock at a depth of approximately 4 meters in the sewerage system. By utilizing the jetting technique to break apart the debris, the hope is that any objects, including the individual’s body, will be able to pass through the pieces. This method is crucial in ensuring that any potential obstructions are removed and that the rescuers can continue their efforts to locate the missing tourist. Additionally, the decision to utilize water-jetting is a strategic approach to clearing the path and increasing the chances of finding the individual as quickly as possible.
