Kris Marshall, known for his role in BBC’s Death in Paradise, recently opened up about the cancellation of an ITV period drama called Sandition, in which he starred. The show, based on an unfinished novel by Jane Austen, was cancelled after just one series, only to be revived in 2022 due to popular demand from fans, especially in the United States. Kris expressed his surprise at the cancellation, as it was the first time a show he was on had been cancelled and then reinstated, all thanks to the fans who campaigned for its return.

Following the revival, ITV recommissioned Sandition for two more series, giving Kris the opportunity to reprise his role as Tom Parker, an entrepreneur with ambitious plans for Sandition as an upmarket seaside destination. Kris Marshall’s fans can also catch him in the second series of Death in Paradise spin-off, Beyond Paradise, where he continues to play DI Humphrey Goodman. The show follows Humphrey’s love story with Martha Lloyd and their plans to expand their family. Kris shared his enthusiasm for the show and the unique narrative it brings to the viewers.

In discussing his transition from Death in Paradise to Beyond Paradise, Kris expressed his gratitude for being part of a franchise with a strong following. He acknowledged the support of existing fans of Death in Paradise and hoped to attract new viewers through the spin-off. Beyond Paradise maintains the essence of the original show but offers a fresh and unique storyline, backed by a talented production team and writer. Kris credited the success of the show to its distinct identity, incorporating the charm and beauty of the South-West where the series is set.

The journey of Sandition and the subsequent revival, along with the success of Beyond Paradise, highlights Kris Marshall’s versatility as an actor and his ability to connect with audiences in different roles. His portrayal of characters like Tom Parker and DI Humphrey Goodman showcase his range and appeal to fans worldwide. Kris’s dedication to his craft and passion for storytelling shine through in his performances, creating memorable experiences for viewers. The revival of Sandition and the popularity of Beyond Paradise are testaments to Kris Marshall’s talent and the impact he has in the world of television.

As Kris Marshall continues to entertain audiences with his captivating performances, his involvement in Sandition, Death in Paradise, and Beyond Paradise demonstrates his commitment to delivering quality content. The feedback from fans, the success of the shows, and the opportunity to explore various characters indicate Kris’s passion for his craft and his desire to engage viewers through compelling storytelling. With each project, Kris Marshall brings something new and exciting to the screen, captivating audiences and solidifying his status as a talented actor in the industry.
