Kevin Costner recently attended the Cannes Film Festival with his new movie “Horizon: An American Saga,” where it received an 11-minute standing ovation. Despite reports of him crying during the ovation, Costner clarified that his eyes were full, but he did not cry. He reflected on how he ended up at a place like Cannes and expressed gratitude for the positive response to the film.

Costner shared that the emotional experience in Cannes made him reflect on his dreams, accomplishments, and setbacks in life. He admitted to being moved by the standing ovation and the opportunity to showcase his new film at the prestigious festival. The actor brought five of his seven children to the premiere and sported a new look, including blond hair, a dark-gray mustache, and a soul patch.

During a press conference for “Horizon: An American Saga,” Costner revealed that he partially self-financed the Western feature, which cost over $100 million to make. Despite facing challenges in getting the film made, he remained committed to his vision and believed in the quality of his work. The decision to prioritize “Horizon” over “Yellowstone” was intentional, as he plans to release two parts of the film this summer followed by three sequels.

Costner discussed the process of bringing “Horizon” to life, sharing that the project has been in the works for many years. Despite initial struggles to finance the film, Costner remained dedicated to the project and invested a significant amount of his own money into it. He emphasized his belief in the movie experience and expressed a desire for the film to resonate with audiences beyond his own vision.

The actor emphasized the personal significance of “Horizon: An American Saga” and its journey to the big screen. He expressed a deep commitment to the project and a belief in its value, despite the challenges he faced in getting it made. Costner confirmed that the film would be released in two chapters in theaters, with the first part premiering on June 28 and the second part on August 16.

In conclusion, Kevin Costner’s experience at the Cannes Film Festival with “Horizon: An American Saga” was emotional and meaningful for the actor. Despite reports of him crying during the standing ovation, Costner clarified that his emotions were a mix of gratitude and reflection on his life’s journey. The film, which Costner partly self-financed, represents a labor of love for the actor and a testament to his belief in the power of storytelling and the cinematic experience.
