Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer shares prison soccer video to demonstrate client is unharmed following reported inmate attack

Joran van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez, shared a video with Fox News Digital that shows the convicted killer in apparent good health, refuting reports of a prison beatdown. The 41-second clip shows van der Sloot entering a gymnasium with his team, “La Naranja Mecanica,” towering over the other inmates at 6 feet 5 inches. Altez denies reports of a two-on-one assault against van der Sloot, calling them “fake news,” and asserting that his client is fine. Despite reports of attacks against him, van der Sloot is reported to be in good health and not facing disciplinary action.

A former inmate who did time with van der Sloot in Alabama described him as an arrogant “d–chebag” who walks around jail like he owns the place and treats others poorly. Despite his negative reputation among fellow inmates, van der Sloot is granted conjugal visits at Challapalca prison in Peru, where he is serving his multiple sentences. The prison, known for its harsh conditions and remote location, has seen van der Sloot engage in unruly behavior in the past, resulting in his sentence being extended.

Van der Sloot admitted to killing Natalee Holloway in 2005 and Peruvian heiress Stephany Flores in 2010 as part of an extortion and fraud case. He is currently serving time in Peru for the U.S. charges related to the extortion of Holloway’s mother. Despite his convictions, there is still the possibility of him being prosecuted in Aruba for Holloway’s murder, even though the statute of limitations has expired in that case. The lawyer representing van der Sloot has described the prison where he is held as “hell” due to its freezing temperatures and isolation.

It remains unclear why van der Sloot’s prison team is named “The Clockwork Orange,” but it may be a reference to the 1971 Stanley Kubrick movie of the same name that depicts a failed attempt at rehabilitating violent individuals. Van der Sloot’s life has been marked by criminal behavior and convictions, including drug and phone smuggling within the prison where he is currently held. Despite his challenges and negative reputation, van der Sloot continues to have access to mental health and rehabilitation programs, including conjugal visits to maintain his well-being.

In conclusion, Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer has refuted claims of a prison beatdown against his client, sharing a video that shows the convicted killer in apparent good health. Despite reports of attacks against him, van der Sloot maintains a negative reputation among fellow inmates and has faced challenges while serving his multiple sentences in Peru. His criminal history includes the murders of Natalee Holloway and Stephany Flores, as well as other incidents of unruly behavior in prison. Despite these challenges, van der Sloot has access to mental health and rehabilitation programs, including conjugal visits to address his well-being.
