Police teams affiliated with the Wanted Persons Bureau of the Security Directorate launched an operation to apprehend fugitive Musa Göksu, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a trial where he was tried without detention.
Göksu, located in Konya, was captured by police teams following technical and physical surveillance operations.
After the procedures at the police station, Göksu was delivered to the prison.
Musa Göksu, who has been working as a jeweler in the Bedesten Bazaar in the Meram district for 7 years, was accused of promising to sell gold cheaply to citizens at a stand he would set up in July 2019 and receiving approximately 30 kilograms of gold from local jewelers in the city and gold wholesalers in Istanbul, with a promise of repayment at a later date.
It was alleged that on the last day of the discount stand set up in front of his shop, Göksu disappeared with the gold in his shop, the money and remaining gold from the sales at the stand he set up.
When 15 tradesmen in Konya could not reach Musa Göksu, whom they had been looking for because the shop was closed on July 24, 2019, they filed a complaint with the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office alleging they had been defrauded. Göksu was captured in Istanbul, and a case was opened against him on charges of “fraud”.
The defendant was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of 133,280 Turkish lira for the crime of “abuse of trust” involving 8 victims.
