The Detroit Lions managed to pull off a hard-fought win against the Houston Texans in a turnover-riddled game despite entering the second half down 23-7. With the game tied at 23 apiece in the fourth quarter, Lions kicker Jake Bates hit a 58-yard field goal, giving the team great field position for a potential win. A crucial third-down catch by Amon-Ra St. Brown set up another successful kick by Bates as time expired for a 26-23 victory. Detroit’s defense also played a significant role in the win by keeping the Texans’ offense from scoring in the second half.

Quarterbacks Jared Goff and C.J. Stroud struggled with turnovers in the third quarter, trading interceptions that impacted the game. Goff threw five interceptions, a new career-high, but the Lions’ defense continuously picked him up by forcing punts and making crucial plays. Despite Goff’s struggles, the team was able to stay in the game and come within three points before ultimately securing the victory. Despite a strong performance from Stroud in the first half, he couldn’t muster anything in the second half to lead the Texans to a win at home.

The game began with a turnover on the fifth play as Goff was intercepted by Jimmie Ward, leading to a touchdown by the Texans. Despite early struggles, the Lions were able to get on the board with a touchdown pass from Goff to Sam LaPorta, making it 10-7. However, Goff continued to face pressure from the Texans’ defense and threw multiple interceptions that led to point opportunities for Houston. Stroud also managed to extend the Texans’ lead with another touchdown before halftime, putting them ahead 23-7.

Ultimately, Goff finished the game 15-of-30 for 240 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions, while Stroud went 19-of-33 for 232 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs contributed 71 yards on 19 carries for the Lions. Despite the offensive struggles and turnovers, the Lions were able to come away with the win and improve to 8-1 on the season, while the Texans fell to 6-4. The victory showcased Detroit’s resilience and ability to overcome adversity to secure a crucial victory on the road.
