In a recent investigation led by the Izmir Republic Prosecutor’s Office, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Counter-Terrorism Branch teams conducted an operation targeting the financial sources of the terrorist organization ISIS. Through technical and physical surveillance, the identities of 9 suspects were determined.
Subsequently, simultaneous operations were carried out at addresses in 7 different cities where the suspects were hiding. As a result, 6 of the suspects were successfully apprehended. Efforts are still ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining two suspects who are believed to be abroad.
The investigation into ISIS’s financial activities is part of a larger effort to combat terrorism in the region. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to identify and dismantle the various sources of funding that support terrorist organizations like ISIS.
