The Museum of History and Industry in Seattle is currently showcasing the exhibit “Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks,” featuring recreations of iconic skyscrapers from around the world. The exhibit allows visitors to not only admire the detailed LEGO structures but also try their hand at creating their own buildings using the toy blocks. Built at a 1:200 scale by LEGO Certified Professional Ryan McNaught and his team, the exhibit includes famous towers such as the Burj Khalifa, Empire State Building, and Petronas Twin Towers.

The exhibit offers a hands-on, interactive experience for visitors, allowing them to explore the history of LEGO and architecture while learning about design principles and creativity. With over 200,000 loose LEGO bricks available for building in special areas, visitors can test their construction skills and create unique structures of their own. MOHAI’s Chief of Exhibits, Devorah Romanek, highlights the educational opportunities provided by working with LEGOs, including lessons in modularity, design, and analytical thinking.

The “Towers of Tomorrow” exhibit runs until September 22nd, providing an engaging and informative experience for individuals of all ages. The display showcases the impressive LEGO versions of world-famous buildings, such as the Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan, Toronto’s CN Tower, and the Chrysler Building in New York City. Visitors can marvel at the intricate details of each LEGO structure, including the use of transparent bricks to replicate glass facades and the accurate scaling of the buildings.

MOHAI Executive Director Leonard Garfield emphasizes the hands-on nature of the exhibit, encouraging visitors to actively engage with the LEGO models and explore the world of architecture through a playful lens. The exhibit offers a unique perspective on architectural history and design, inviting visitors to appreciate the creativity and innovation behind each LEGO creation. From the towering Burj Khalifa to the sleek Taipei 101, the exhibit showcases the diversity and artistry of skyscraper architecture through the lens of LEGO bricks.

Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast, a LEGO fan, or simply looking for a fun and educational experience, the “Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks” exhibit at MOHAI has something for everyone. Explore the world’s most famous skyscrapers in miniature form, learn about the history of LEGO, and unleash your creativity with hands-on building activities. Discover the intersection of design, engineering, and play in this one-of-a-kind exhibition that celebrates the art of building with LEGO bricks.
