Illegal products worth over 15 million lira seized in Izmir

Izmir Police Department’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit conducted an operation against suspects involved in smuggling tobacco and tobacco products. During the operation at a specific address, a total of 15 million 710 thousand TL worth of illegal goods were seized. This included 1500 tax stamps, 9 million 495 thousand 200 filled cigarette tubes, 811 kilograms of shredded tobacco, 1 million 338 thousand 200 empty cigarette tubes, 1162 kilograms of hookah tobacco, 61 electronic cigarettes, and 19 cigarette rolling machines.

A total of 19 suspects were taken into custody and faced legal action in relation to the incident. The operation was aimed at cracking down on illegal activities related to the manufacturing, trade, and distribution of tobacco products. The seized items have a significant market value, highlighting the scale of the illegal operation and the potential impact on the economy and public health.
