Illegal betting operation in 11 provinces centered in Erzurum: 37 detained

Erzurum Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, in coordination with Erzurum Police Department Cyber Crimes and Intelligence Branch Directorates, has initiated an investigation into the crime of illegal gambling. Over the course of three months, the police conducted physical and technical surveillance on individuals who obtained a large number of bank accounts, leading to the discovery of illegal gambling activities.

The police identified a total of 276,064,578 Turkish lira in transactions in the identified accounts, and subsequently launched simultaneous operations in various cities including Istanbul, Adana, Mersin, Bursa, Tekirdağ, Isparta, Antalya, Aydın, Eskişehir, and Ordu. A total of 37 suspects were arrested during the operations, during which a significant amount of digital materials, as well as bank accounts, credit cards, and ready-to-use SIM cards, were seized.

The arrested suspects in other cities were brought to Erzurum for further questioning and legal proceedings. The operation marks a significant crackdown on illegal gambling activities and aims to dismantle the criminal networks involved in such illegal activities. The authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the operation of illegal gambling rings across the country.
