Hydro-Québec is working to repair the remaining power outages caused by a recent snowstorm in Quebec. At the height of the storm, there were around 297,000 customers without power, but as of 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, there were only around 4,700 customers still affected. Most of the remaining outages are in Quebec’s Laurentians region, where the electricity grid suffered significant damage from fallen branches and trees. Some customers have been without power for one to two days, and Hydro-Québec crews have been working to replace poles carrying power lines to restore service.

The spokesperson for Hydro-Québec, Louis-Olivier Batty, explained that the abundance of smaller outages, each affecting between one and five customers, has contributed to the delay in restoring power to parts of the region. The crews have been working diligently to address each outage and work through the challenges presented by the storm’s impact on the infrastructure. Despite the additional work required to repair the damage, Hydro-Québec expects to have all remaining power outages resolved by the end of the day on Saturday, providing relief to those still without electricity.

The snowstorm that swept through Quebec this week caused widespread power outages, affecting hundreds of thousands of customers. The severity of the storm’s impact on the electricity grid, particularly in the Laurentians region, resulted in downed power lines and damaged poles that needed to be repaired or replaced. Hydro-Québec has been facing the challenges posed by the storm to restore power to all affected customers as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In cases where poles carrying power lines needed replacement, Hydro-Québec crews have been working tirelessly to address the damage and make the necessary repairs. The utility company has been working around the clock to ensure that customers affected by the storm’s aftermath are not left without power for an extended period. The dedication and efforts of the Hydro-Québec crews have been instrumental in gradually reducing the number of customers without electricity and bringing relief to those impacted by the storm.

According to Batty, most of the remaining outages in the Laurentians region were a result of fallen branches and trees that caused extensive damage to the electricity grid. The difficult terrain and accessibility issues in some areas have also posed challenges for the crews working on the repairs. Despite these challenges, Hydro-Québec remains committed to completing the restoration efforts and ensuring that all customers have their power restored by the end of the day on Saturday. The utility company is working diligently to address each outage and bring relief to all those affected by the recent snowstorm.

Overall, Hydro-Québec is making significant progress in repairing the remaining power outages caused by the recent snowstorm. With the majority of customers already having their power restored, the focus is on resolving the remaining outages in the Laurentians region. Despite the challenges presented by the storm’s impact on the infrastructure, Hydro-Québec is dedicated to completing the restoration efforts and ensuring that all customers have their power back by the end of the day on Saturday. The utility company’s swift response and efforts to address the damage caused by the snowstorm demonstrate their commitment to customer service and reliability in providing electricity to the residents of Quebec.
