Kamonnan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, was tragically found dead with knife wounds inside a £4million property which used to be the Ethiopian embassy near Bayswater, central London. It was reported that Kamonnan was at a party at the property just hours before her death. Neighbours in the affluent area stated that they heard screams and loud music overnight into Monday morning. The police were alerted after receiving phone calls expressing concern for Kamonnan’s welfare. The property is believed to be a short-term holiday let and does not have any permanent residents. Police are investigating the murder, and there is an ongoing search for the killer.
The property where Kamonnan was found is spread across two floors, with a basement and a roof garden. Neighbours reported hearing loud music and seeing numerous individuals coming and going from the property, indicating that a party was taking place. It was also revealed that several food deliveries meant for the property were mistakenly sent to a neighbour’s home. One neighbour mentioned hearing high-pitched screams on Sunday evening before the tragic incident. Another neighbour stated that they had never seen Kamonnan before and believed she had only been at the property for a few days. The police are investigating the case and working to identify and locate the killer.
The first call to the Metropolitan Police regarding Kamonnan’s welfare was made by a friend shortly after 7pm on Sunday night. Another call was made about two and a half hours later, but it wasn’t until the next morning that the police attended the property and discovered Kamonnan’s lifeless body with fatal stab wounds. Kamonnan, a dual-nationality Thai-Hong Kong woman, was declared dead at the scene. The police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to review how they handled the initial call. The IOPC is considering further investigation, while the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has also been informed of the case.
