Hyatt Loyalty Play: Expanding with 700 New Hotels through Mr & Mrs Smith Collaboration

Hyatt has recently announced that members of its loyalty program can now earn and redeem points at approximately 700 boutique and luxury hotels through a partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith, a service that curates boutique properties. The acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith by Hyatt for $66 million a year ago has finally allowed Hyatt loyalty members to have access to a wider range of accommodations.

Mr & Mrs Smith was founded by a husband-and-wife team 20 years ago and has since become known for curating boutique and luxury properties. With about 700 properties joining Hyatt in this integration, it expands the options for the 40 million members of World of Hyatt. The properties add about 20 new countries to the list where Hyatt loyalty members can earn and redeem points, offering more diverse travel opportunities.

The invitation-only process for hotels to join Mr & Mrs Smith involves more than just being a luxury property. It focuses on finding properties with extraordinary settings, incredible service, beautiful design, and a strong sense of place that enhances the destination experience for guests. This selective curation ensures that the properties align with the quality and experience that Hyatt customers expect.

Technical details regarding the integration for Hyatt loyalty members include earning points through stays at Mr & Mrs Smith properties, eligible nights counting towards World of Hyatt tier status, and bonus point redemptions for Elite tier members. Members can also earn American Airlines miles for qualifying stays, and any available room at a paid rate can be redeemed for points. However, the properties will not be commissionable for travel advisors.

Speaking at Skift’s Future of Lodging Forum last year, Tamara Lohan, co-founder and CEO of Mr & Mrs Smith, praised Hyatt for its focus on the leisure luxury customer and its reputation for exceptional care. This emphasis on delivering a high-quality experience aligns with the values of both companies, making the partnership beneficial for both Hyatt loyalty members and Mr & Mrs Smith customers.

The integration of Mr & Mrs Smith properties into the World of Hyatt loyalty program provides members with more options for earning and redeeming points at boutique and luxury hotels around the world. This collaboration expands the reach of Hyatt loyalty benefits to new countries and offers a curated selection of properties with unique designs, exceptional service, and unforgettable experiences for travelers. The technical details of the integration ensure a seamless process for loyalty members to earn and redeem points, strengthening the partnership between Hyatt and Mr & Mrs Smith for a mutual benefit.
