Caitlin Clark recently made a surprise cameo on “Saturday Night Live,” where she roasted Michael Che during the “Weekend Update” segment with Colin Jost. Despite her successful appearance, the WNBA player expressed that she is not ready to host the show and found the experience to be nerve-wracking. Clark, who was the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft, described the excitement and anxiety she felt before going on stage at Studio 8H in New York during her introductory press conference with the Fever.

During the press conference, Clark shared details about her experience on “Saturday Night Live,” revealing that she felt like her heart was about to explode out of her chest before going on stage. She explained how she was thrown into the fire when she arrived at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, having flown from L.A. to New York and gone straight to the set without much rest. Despite the nerves, Clark acknowledged that the opportunity to be part of such a popular show was exciting and a good platform for women’s sports.

The WNBA player’s comments about her appearance on “Saturday Night Live” came shortly after she spoke about the experience on the NBC morning show “Today.” Clark admitted that she felt more nervous about being on “SNL” than she did before the national championship game against South Carolina, which resulted in an Iowa loss. The women’s NCAA championship game set a record for TV viewership, attracting 18.7 million viewers and peaking at 24 million. In addition, a record 2.45 million viewers tuned into the 2024 WNBA Draft to watch Clark turn pro.

Upon her arrival at the Indiana Fever team facility, Caitlin Clark was welcomed by Fever legend Tamika Catchings and Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton. They posed for photos alongside Catchings and Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle, marking the second consecutive year that the Fever had the first pick in the draft. With Clark now on their roster, the Fever have the seventh-best odds to win the WNBA title at 35/1, and Clark herself has the fourth-best odds to win the MVP title at 12/1. The WNBA training camps are set to begin on April 28, with the season starting on May 14.

In summary, Caitlin Clark’s surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” was a memorable experience, and despite her initial nerves, she successfully delivered her lines and garnered positive attention for women’s sports. As the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark is now focused on her professional basketball career with the Indiana Fever. With the support of her teammates. Fever legend Tamika Catchings, and Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton, Clark is poised to make a significant impact on the WNBA. The upcoming season promises to be an exciting one for both Clark and the Indiana Fever as they aim to compete for the WNBA title.
