A tragic incident occurred in the rural Gücük Mahallesi, a district of Elbistan in Kahramanmaraş. Aziz Genç, a 47-year-old man, lost his life while trying to move his small livestock herd to a safer area during a heavy rainstorm. As he was trying to lead the herd to safety, he was struck by lightning and sadly passed away. His lifeless body was sent to the Kahramanmaraş Forensic Medicine Morgue for autopsy after the examination of the crime scene and the work of the public prosecutor.
In Adana, heavy rain affected two districts. The rain intensified in the Kozan district in the afternoon. Some trees fell onto the road on Kadirli Street, and the roof of a house in the Şevkiye neighborhood was blown off. Hail was also observed in some areas of the district. In Pozantı, the rain caused water and mud accumulations on the roads, which were subsequently cleaned by municipal teams.
In Osmaniye, a dairy farm’s roof collapsed due to the evening rainstorm and strong winds in the Kadirli district, resulting in transportation disruptions due to fallen trees blocking the roads. Street flooding occurred in some areas, prompting the municipality and disaster management teams to begin draining the accumulated water. In the Çınar village of Sumbas district, the roof of a dairy farm collapsed due to the storm, trapping two large livestock animals underneath. The Kadirli Municipality Fire Department successfully rescued the trapped animals.
Corum experienced heavy rainfall in the evening, leading to flooding in several areas. Gok gürültülü yağış” translates to “thunderstorm rain” in English. Buharaevler Mahallesi, Gazi Caddesi Emniyet Kavşağı, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Akşemseddin, Dr. Sadık Ahmet streets, and Abide Kavşağı all experienced significant water accumulations, causing difficulties for drivers. Some low-lying homes and businesses were inundated with water due to the flooding. The Corum Municipality received reports of flooding from 120 addresses, and Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın inspected some of the affected areas to oversee the response efforts.
In Malatya, intermittent rain showers had been ongoing for some time before intensifying in the evening. In the Akçadağ district, the Kömekavak Mahallesi experienced heavy rain that turned into hail in some areas, covering the roads in white. The intermittent rain showers are expected to continue to affect the city for some time. In Ardahan, a heavy downpour followed by intense hail turned the Ardahan-Ardanuç highway at the 2,580-meter-high Bülbülan mevkii into a white landscape. Vehicles experienced difficulties moving along the road, prompting the highway maintenance teams to clear the road of debris.
