Health teams determined that 5-year-old Ali Emre Şirin, Duygu Şirin, and Şenol Şirin had been shot with a gun. After the prosecutor’s examination, the bodies were taken to the morgue of Tekirdağ City Hospital. It was later revealed that Şenol Şirin, who worked as a technician at the Tekirdağ Police Department, had shot his wife and son with a pistol before committing suicide.
