Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu visited the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro Line for inspections and discussed the rail system projects implemented by the Ministry in major cities, stating that the total length of urban rail system lines in the country has reached 434 kilometers.
Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that they are continuing the construction of a 79.4-kilometer urban rail system line in Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Bursa, and planning to build a new line of 324.1 kilometers in Istanbul, Sakarya, Bursa, Ankara, Izmir, Samsun, Trabzon, and Konya.
“We will have constructed a total of 837.5 kilometers of urban rail system lines throughout the country once we complete the ongoing and planned projects,” Uraloğlu said.
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the opening of the 14-kilometer Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport section of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro Line in March, increasing the total length of the line in Istanbul to 161.8 kilometers.
Speaking about the rail system projects built in Istanbul and transferred to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Uraloğlu mentioned that they have served approximately 11.8 million passengers on the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport line, 2.1 million on the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme line, and about 1.2 million with Marmaray.
Currently, the construction works of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Line’s Halkalı-Arnavutköy section and the Altunizade-Çamlıca Mosque-Bosna Boulevard Metro Line are ongoing, according to Uraloğlu.
Uraloğlu emphasized that with the opening of the completed section of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, 1.5 million passengers have been transported since its inauguration in March. Additionally, he provided details on the progress made in various construction works and the integration of the line with other rail systems in Istanbul.
