Hailey Van Lith, the guard for LSU women’s basketball team, has entered the transfer portal for the second year in a row. In her first season with the Tigers, she averaged 11.6 points and 3.6 assists. The team’s season ended with a loss to Iowa in the Elite Eight. Van Lith’s decision to transfer was confirmed by the Associated Press. Additionally, LSU will be without star player Angel Reese next season as she has decided to enter the WNBA draft instead of using her final year of college eligibility.

Van Lith had the option to declare for the WNBA draft but chose to return for another season due to the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to athletes whose freshman year was impacted by the pandemic. She had played three successful seasons at Louisville, leading the team to the Final Four in 2022. After reaching the Elite Eight last year, Van Lith decided to transfer to LSU. Her presence in the transfer portal generated significant attention last season, and her decision to transfer again this year has attracted similar interest.

As a graduate transfer from Louisville, Van Lith took on a less prominent offensive role with LSU. Before the team’s win over UCLA in the Sweet 16, she addressed reporters and expressed confidence in her ability to advocate for herself on and off the court. Despite the challenges she faced during the season, Van Lith emphasized her determination to succeed at the next level. Her experience and skills have made her a valuable asset to any team that she chooses to join in the future.

The news of Van Lith’s transfer has sparked interest among fans and analysts of women’s college basketball. Her performance on the court and her future prospects have been subjects of discussion and speculation. By entering the transfer portal for the second consecutive season, Van Lith has demonstrated her willingness to explore new opportunities and challenges. As one of the standout players in women’s college basketball, her decisions have the potential to impact the landscape of the sport.
