Graeme Souness’ theory on Arsenal contradicts Cesc Fabregas’ belief

Cesc Fabregas believes that if Arsenal were to win the Premier League title this season, it could be a turning point for the club and set them on a path to greater success in the future. The former Arsenal midfielder, who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, thinks that a title win would boost the team’s confidence and belief, leading to consistent challenges for top trophies. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season, the highest they have finished since 2015/16, and have shown potential in the Champions League and Premier League this year. Fabregas believes that Arsenal’s squad would grow even stronger with a league title.

However, Fabregas also points to Liverpool’s recent history as a warning for Arsenal. Graeme Souness, former Liverpool boss, commented on Liverpool’s chances following their Premier League win in 2020, saying that while they may not win every year, they are always close to winning big trophies. Souness praised Liverpool’s combination of effort and quality, with a strong defense led by Virgil van Dijk and a formidable front three. Despite Liverpool’s success, they have not always been the dominant team in the Premier League, facing stiff competition from Manchester City in recent years.

The competition from Manchester City is a hurdle that Arsenal would have to overcome to establish themselves as consistent title contenders. Pep Guardiola’s side are currently vying for their fourth title in a row, setting a high standard for other teams. Liverpool, while successful in their own right, have not been able to match Man City’s consistency at the top. Fabregas acknowledges the tough challenge that Arsenal would face in trying to dethrone teams like Man City and Liverpool from the top of the league, but remains optimistic about Arsenal’s potential.

Fabregas believes that a league title win for Arsenal would not only bring back the winning mentality to the club but also unite the fans, players, and staff under a common goal. He emphasizes the importance of belief and trust within the club, factors that can make a difference in highly competitive leagues like the Premier League. Arsenal’s current squad has shown promise, with young talents emerging and experienced players leading the way. Fabregas envisions a scenario where Arsenal becomes a constant threat in challenging for top titles after a successful league campaign.

The road to the Premier League title for Arsenal would require consistent performances and resilience against tough opponents like Man City and Liverpool. Fabregas highlights the importance of a strong defense and quality attack, attributes that have been key to Liverpool’s success. While the task may not be easy, Fabregas is hopeful that Arsenal can rise to the challenge and establish themselves as one of the top teams in the league. With the right mindset, determination, and talent, Fabregas believes that Arsenal can build on their recent successes and become a dominant force in English football once again.
