GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited has acquired Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide’s 10% stake in the Delhi International Airport for $126 million, increasing its equity stake in the airport to 74%. The remaining 26% stake will continue to be with the Airports Authority of India. GMR Group also operates airports in Hyderabad, Goa, and is developing a greenfield airport in Andhra Pradesh.

Indian airport operators are expected to experience a revenue increase of 15% to 17% in the 2024-25 fiscal year, driven by growth in domestic and international passenger traffic, rising tariffs, and expanding non-aeronautical revenues. The Indian aviation industry has seen record domestic passenger traffic, making it the third-largest domestic aviation market globally. With annual passenger capacity set to increase by 60 million, investments in airport infrastructure are on the rise.

PhonePe has partnered with Liquid Group in Singapore to broaden its network, enabling PhonePe users to pay at Liquid Group’s merchant base by scanning QR payment codes. The move also allows Liquid Group’s merchants to accept UPI payments, enhancing the payment options for Indian travelers at tourist-centric locations. Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel have agreed on a partnership with Malaysia Aviation Group to attract Indian tourists interested in visiting Malaysia through various travel options and promotions.

Adani Airports has launched the ‘Aviio’ app to provide real-time information to passengers about airport access, security checks, gate changes, and more. Adani Group is set to list its airport business, Adani Airport Holdings, by fiscal 2028 and plans to invest significantly in its airport business over the next 10 years. Israel’s Ministry of Tourism is targeting luxury, business, and MICE travelers from India, showcasing its MICE facilities and luxury accommodations at a travel mart in Delhi, highlighting India as one of Israel’s top source markets for outbound tourism.
