Reality TV star Gemma Collins tearfully recounted being attacked and robbed by her ex-boyfriend just before entering the I’m A Celebrity jungle in 2014. The incident occurred just hours before she was set to fly out for the show. Although she only lasted 72 hours on the show, Gemma revealed the pain and turmoil she was going through at the time. She shared that she was “beaten up” and “knocked out” by her partner, convicted drug dealer Alexander Moss. Despite her injuries, she went on the show to avoid letting anyone down, even though she was in significant physical pain.

In a recent interview, Gemma opened up about the trauma she experienced from being attacked. She spoke about how she didn’t want to draw attention to the incident due to her fame at the time and how she eventually got back together with her abusive partner. She also expressed feeling embarrassed and ridiculed after leaving the show, where she received criticism for various reasons. Gemma even revealed that she had considered suicide at one point but eventually regained her strength after a few months. In 2017, she spoke to The Mirror about the details of the attack and showed pictures of the injuries she sustained, hoping to set the record straight.

Gemma’s ex-boyfriend, Alexander Moss, had a history of criminal activity, including being jailed for conspiracy to supply cocaine and later for breaking his partner’s arm and threatening to kill her. Gemma revealed that I’m A Celebrity producers were initially hesitant to let her participate in the show due to her condition after the attack, but she insisted on going ahead. Despite the challenges she faced, Gemma felt compelled not to disappoint those who had given her the opportunity to be on the show. The incident served as a traumatic episode in Gemma’s life, but she has since opened up about it to raise awareness about domestic abuse issues.

For confidential support regarding domestic abuse, individuals can contact the 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Freephone Helpline on 0808 2000 247 or visit womensaid.co.uk. Gemma’s story sheds light on the importance of speaking out and seeking help in situations of domestic violence. Her openness about her own experience has inspired others to speak out and seek support.
