Game #516: Unraveling Clues and Finding Answers in ‘Connections’ – NYT’s November 8 Edition

Newsweek is offering tips to help solve the Connections puzzle as a mental exercise after a long day of work. The game involves identifying connections between four groups of four words based on common characteristics and placing them into categories of varying difficulty levels. For example, one recent game had words like “braid,” “bun,” “pony,” and “twist” under the category “Ways to wear your hair up”. Players are encouraged to be patient and not rush through the answers in order to increase their chances of winning.

To play Connections, players must select four words from a table of 16 and submit their choices. If correct, the words will appear in the corresponding category color and disappear from the grid. If incorrect, the words will remain gray and stay on the board. If stuck, players can use the “Shuffle” button to move the words around. The game offers clues for each category to help players figure out the connections. The answers are revealed at the bottom of the page, so players have the option to view them or try to solve the puzzle on their own.

For the November 8th puzzle, the clues for each category were provided by Newsweek. The yellow category focused on words that mean “lark,” the green category included varieties of food treated in brine, the blue category consisted of words that describe things that could be X-rated, and the purple category asked for words that follow the phrase “cut the”. The answers to the puzzle included words like “Antic,” “Dill,” “Blue,” and “Cheese.” If players were able to guess the correct answers, they were encouraged to try again the next day for a new challenge.

Connections was introduced by The New York Times as a game meant to stimulate thinking and problem-solving skills. Newsweek provides daily hints and tips for each new game, which is released at midnight in the player’s local time zone. Players can also try their hand at Wordle, another popular game, and use hints provided by Newsweek to improve their chances of success. The game is a fun and challenging way to relax and exercise the brain after a busy day.
