Stephanie Sparks, a former professional golfer and co-host of the Golf Channel’s “Big Break,” passed away at the age of 50 earlier this month. She was known for her brief stint on the LPGA tour and her representation of the U.S. in the 1994 Curtis Cup. Sparks’ co-host on “Big Break,” Tom Abbott, confirmed her passing and expressed his shock and sadness at the news. The cause of her death was not immediately disclosed.

Prior to her professional career, Sparks was an accomplished amateur golfer, having been an All-American player at Duke University. She achieved success on the Futures Tour in the early 1990s, winning prestigious events such as the North and South Women’s Amateur and the Women’s Western Amateur. Despite playing just one season on the LPGA Tour in 2000, injuries forced Sparks to cut her professional career short.

After retiring from competitive golf, Sparks transitioned into broadcasting, hosting various shows on the Golf Channel and providing reporting during tournaments. Her work in the broadcasting industry was well-received, as she became a familiar face to golf fans around the world. Sparks’ family plans to hold a private service in her honor, celebrating the impact she had on those around her through her warmth, kindness, and sense of humor.

Stephanie Sparks’ death came as a shock to many who knew and worked with her, including those in the golfing community. Tom Abbott reflected on his time working with Sparks on “Big Break,” remembering the fond memories they shared during the seven seasons they worked together. His thoughts and condolences go out to Sparks’ family as they navigate through this difficult time, mourning the loss of a beloved family member and friend.

As news of Sparks’ passing spread, tributes poured in from fans, colleagues, and friends who remembered her for her contributions to the world of golf and her impact on those around her. Sparks’ legacy as a talented golfer, dedicated broadcaster, and beloved friend will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, leaving behind a lasting imprint on the golfing community and beyond.
