McCabe discussed the potential ways in which the federal government could investigate Thomas on a podcast, including the FBI opening a full field investigation if there is information suggesting a federal crime has been committed. Whitehouse and Wyden’s letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland raised concerns about possible tax violations related to the luxury motor coach loan, as Thomas reportedly never repaid the loan, potentially leading to questions about whether he disclosed the apparent forgiveness of the loan on his tax returns.
