A fire broke out in a forested area in the Gökçeyurt neighborhood of Konya for reasons that have not yet been determined. Upon receiving the report, teams from Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Ilgın Municipality, and the Ilgın Forestry Directorate were dispatched to the area. The fire was brought under control and extinguished after approximately 5 hours of aerial and ground intervention by the teams. The Governorship stated that there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the fire. Citizens were warned about the risk of fires.

In a statement describing the fire being contained before it could spread further, it was mentioned that, “The fire that broke out in the Gökçeyurt area was handled promptly by the coordination of our governorship, the on-site follow-up by our district governor, gendarmerie, Metropolitan Municipality, State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) Regional Directorate, and Forestry Directorate. The fire was successfully brought under control without further spread and extinguished through intense efforts.” It was noted that cooling efforts were ongoing in the area, and the teams who worked tirelessly to intervene in the fire were thanked in the statement. Citizens were urged to be more sensitive and cautious in the face of the increasing risk of fires due to rising temperatures.

In a separate incident in Kütahya, a fire broke out in a garden in the Gültepe neighborhood for reasons that have not been determined yet. The flames quickly spread to the forested area where pine trees were located. Upon receiving the report, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Kütahya Municipality Fire Department were directed to the area. Kütahya Regional Director of Forestry, Erdal Dingil, stated that the fire was brought under control in the area before it could spread further due to the rapid intervention of the teams. Dingil mentioned that the fire affected an area of approximately one hectare and that 6 fire trucks, 4 fire vehicles, and one fire extinguishing helicopter were used for intervention. Around 150 personnel were involved in the firefighting efforts, preventing the fire from advancing and ensuring it was contained.

Dingil also added that the teams were continuing with cooling efforts in the area where the fire occurred. The effective and swift response of the teams prevented further damage and ensured the fire was controlled. It is crucial to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent fires, especially during periods of rising temperatures and dry conditions. Overall, the coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams and the prompt response to the incidents played a vital role in mitigating the potential risks posed by the forest fires in both Konya and Kütahya.
