FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has criticized some of the club’s fans for booing or cheering negatively about President Joan Laporta during the team’s last home game of the season. Despite this, the Catalans secured a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, securing second place in the league and a spot in the Spanish Super Cup at the start of 2025. However, there are rumors circulating that Xavi will be fired in the coming days.

Xavi seemed defiant in his prematch press conference, stating that he is “not interested” in where the rumors are coming from and that he feels he has the confidence of Laporta and Sporting Director Deco. Following the victory over Rayo, Xavi reiterated that he has the support of Laporta and Deco, saying that the “message is the same” and that the president has always been honest with him.

Despite the rumors of his potential firing, Xavi expressed confidence in his relationship with Laporta, stating that they have a trusting and friendly relationship to discuss his future. He also mentioned that he is unaware of any changes in confidence from Laporta and Deco, and he is continuing with his maximum ambition as he looks ahead to the next season with enthusiasm.

Xavi also expressed his discomfort with fans booing or criticizing Laporta during the match, emphasizing the need for unity within the club. He thanked the fans for their support of him personally but stressed the importance of not targeting individuals within the club. Xavi reiterated his commitment to starting the next season with enthusiasm and ambition, regardless of any rumors surrounding his potential departure from the club.

The situation surrounding Xavi’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain, with reports suggesting that he could be fired in the coming days. Despite this, Xavi has maintained his confidence in his relationship with Laporta and Deco and is focused on preparing for the next season with enthusiasm and ambition.

Overall, Xavi’s comments highlight the challenges and uncertainties facing Barcelona as they head into the offseason. The coach’s future remains in question, but he remains determined to move forward with confidence and ambition, regardless of any potential changes within the club’s leadership. Fans will have to wait and see how the situation unfolds in the coming days as they prepare for the start of the new season.
